MicroSVR - World's Smallest, Fanless, Greenest Core i7 Server

by TGPC

Rugged, powerful, versatile and totally silent ‐ the new MicroSVR server from andersDX delivers best in class range ofconnectivity, interface and expansion options, from only 8W power.

Tiny Green PC has announced the availability of MicroSVR ‐ the latest addition to its range of fanless, robust, low energy computers from its joint venture with Compulab. This is the world’s smallest, fanless, lowest power and most expandable server to use 3rd Generation Intel® CoreTM i7 processor technology.

MicroSVRMicroSVR is ideal for a number of space constrained and remote/unattended environments such as industrial control, security network video recorders, digital signage, virtualisation, SOHO server requirements and many more applications.

MicroSVR is extremely small at 6 x 16 x 26cm and uses powerful Core i7 Ivybridge processor family options, offering clock speeds up to 2.5 GHz, and dual channel memory with support for up to 32 GB EEC Ram. It has an extremely rich set of standard I/O including 2x GbE , 2x USB3, 2x USB2.0, 2 x RS232 serial connectors, ESATA and both HDMI and Display Port for multiple display support, leveraging Intels HD4000 graphics chip, for up to WQXGA resolution (2560x1600). Connectivity is also offered through WiFi and Bluetooth support, whilst Intel’s AMT enables an effective remote management solution. For storage, MicroSVR supports 4 x 2.5” hard discs, RAID 0,1,5,10 + mSATA socket. All this is housed within a ruggedied metal enclosure  designed to dissipate heat and thus enable fanless operation.

One of the key benefits of MicroSVR, is the almost unlimited options for expansion, due to 2 x miniPCIe sockets, which can be used for standard cards such as video capture or 3G / GPS connectivity, and the support of the FACE module concept which extends across other products in the range. FACE modules literally enable users to ‘change the front face’ of the product, and integrate additional functionality that is brought out through an internal I/O extension offering support for 4 x PCIe x 1, 1 x PCIe x 8, 5 x USB2, GPIOs, SMBus, LPC, LVDS 24 bit, 2 x USB3.0. Standard FACE module options are also available including multiple Ethernet ports, additional USB ports, Serial ports etc.

MicroSVR will be offered in a range of configurations with different processor, memory and OS options including Linux, Windows Embedded and Standard Server editions.

“The MicroSVR is an amazing engineering achievement when one considers the combination of size, performance, fanless operation and ultra‐low power” says Rob Anders, CEO of andersDX “What’s more, the ability to expand functionality though FACE modules really extends its suitability across many, many sectors. This will be a killer product”

You should give information on the size of possible 2.5 inch drives (7mm, 9mm, 12mm?)

    Cool!!!
You state in your comments that MicroSVR can be used for many different application, for examples "Virtualisation". I'm really interested in this topic. It'll be nice to know if you can successfully install VMWare ESXi on it (even if it's not officially supported by VMWare). Furthermore I don't see a support section on your site for MicroSVR platform so I wonder what driver are available for which operating system. Thanks in advance for your support.
    Good job

    Hello,
I've got some questions regarding MicroSVR:

1)Have you installed on MicroSVR some Hypervisor technologies products?
    1-1)Which one?
2)Have you made a test with VMware ESXi?
    2-1)Which version?
    2-2)Does It work?
2-3)Does it support all MicroSVR hardware including ethernet card, ethernet on FACE Modules, RAM and RAID Storage?
3)Do you plan to certificate MicroSVR hardware whit VMware?
4)What does exactly mean "At present our team are looking into the drivers" ?
4-1)If I buy today the MicroSVR Evaluation Kit from your site which OS can I install on top of the hardware?
4-2)If you plan to release the driver in the near future could you please specify expected pubblication dates?
