Fit PC4 - Real power in a tiny, cool-running PC

Apr 08, 2014

Tiny Green PC’s newly-announced fit-PC4 brings impressive quad-core processing power to its popular miniature fanless mini-PC range. This power, together with its rich graphics and communications features, increase the range’s penetration into video surveillance, digital signage and media player applications, as well as creating new opportunities in areas such as video rendering. Further features include comprehensive connectivity, flexible storage options and expandability; overall, the fit-PC4 is an extremely user-friendly solution for a wide range of industrial, commercial and office applications.

The fit-PC4 is powered by AMD’s next generation G-Series “Jaguar” SoC, based on a 2 GHz quad-core AMD GX-420CA. The tiny PC drives twin displays of up to 1920 x 1200 resolution via HDMI 1.4a ports with CEC support. This allows delivery of video and S/PDIF 7.1 audio data with just a single cable to each display, along with centralised control of multiple display devices. Users can enjoy an excellent multimedia experience in both Windows and Linux.

The PC has an on-board microSIM and can accept a Mini PCI cellular modem chosen to meet 3G, 4G or other communications standards as required. This is ideal for remote installations, permitting the fit-PC4 to transmit fault or event information to a central management facility. All local networking scenarios are fully supported, with two Gbit Ethernet ports plus WiFi and Bluetooth wireless networking. An RS-232, two USB 3 and six USB 2 channels are also provided.

Up to 16 GB of SODIMM SDRAM can be fitted; internal disc storage possibilities include internal 2.5” HDD/SSD, mSATA and micro-SD devices, while Mini PCIe slots are provided for expansion. All these components are easily accessible through a single-screw cover. The passively-cooled die-cast aluminum chassis can also accommodate a standard or custom FACE module.

The fit-PC4 is available in both quad-core Pro and dual-core Value variants, offering a choice of specification and price points. All variants’ pricing is competitive with relevant standard desktop products. A Value Bareboneunit without memory or disk is available for just £220, while the Pro Barebone is £270.

Pre-populated Pro models are also available; The Pro Linux, costing £350, has 4 GB SDRAM, and the Linux Mint OS preloaded onto a 320 GB hard drive. The Pro Win7, priced at £450, has the same hardware configuration but with Windows 7 Professional instead of Linux. The Pro SSD Win 7 costs £525 and has a 120 GB SSD instead of the hard drive.

“The new fit-PC4 offers triple the performance of the well-established fit-PC3, while maintaining its tiny form factor, cool running and durability,” commented Viru Patel, Sales Manager at Tiny Green PC, “Our confidence in its ability to thrive in the most demanding applications is underwritten by a five-year warranty for all models. Additionally, the fit-PC4’s elevated performance level opens new opportunities within these applications areas and beyond for systems integrators and users alike.”
