Ambilight Technology

Q-Line Ambilight, the new professional line from Philips Signage Solutions brings a unique viewing experience to the signage industry. For people not familiar with this patented technology, LED lighting is use to project colours behind the display creating a “visual glow”.

Amblight creates light effects around the display that closely mimic images being displayed to generate a visual effect that provides a really eye-catching and immersive experience.

This technology has been available on consumer displays since 2004 but this is the first time the feature is available on the professional range.

Captivate the viewers' attention

Ambilight not only helps create the illusion that the screen is much bigger than it is, but it really helps to captivate the viewers’ attention and increase their dwell time, making it an exciting digital signage product.

“Ambilight on Philips signage displays creates an intensified signage experience that goes beyond the ordinary. Our internal research found that Ambilight significantly enhances the degree of attention paid to information displayed on the Q-line signage display” comments Harold Niericker, Product Manager Philips Signage Solutions at MMD.

Chose a permanent colour

The user can also select a permanent colour as a dynamic halo and allow the display to accurately replicate a brand identity or environment colour scheme to enable the display to really blend in.

A perfect synchronisation

The Ambilight system is built into the screen and therefore works with any video input that is used unlike some aftermarket kits. These use external video processors which can struggle to maintain a perfect synchronisation between the content on the screen and the colour effect around the edge.

A proven technology

Ambilight is a proven LED lighting technology, which has been installed in more than 10 million Philips consumer and hospitality TVs. We are really excited to offer this Ambilight range of displays which open up a wealth of possibilities for signage applications.
