Airtop-W draws its power from a Quad Core Intel 5th Gen 3.4 GHz Xeon Processor (E3-1285L v4) with a score of 14669 on Geekbench 3.3.2 64 Bits. The 64-bit Quad core device features a 6M Cache and has integrated Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. It’s a really powerful processor - the starting point to get a real CAD workstation.

CAD workstations are used for manipulating very large files – they are often required to carry out 3D rendering and may be used for video editing. If the machine is underspecified, the user will face frequent frustrating waits for the machine to respond.

Create Complex 3D Rendering & Computations

Having completed the calculations, the results need to be turned into an image and presented on the screen (3D design, video editing…). In CAD workstations, this task is delegated to a separate graphics processor, designed specifically for the job, and usually located on a separate graphics card.

The most remarkable feature of the Airtop-W is that it includes a full height graphics card in an SFF, passively cooled case. An NVIDIA Quadro M4000 Graphics Card complements the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6300 graphics integrated in the Xeon processor. The M4000, with its 1664 CUDA Cores and 8GB GDDR5 memory, enables the creation and rendering of large, complex models and the computation of massive datasets.

Multi-Display Workstation: 7 4K displays

Multi-display requirement is very usual for Workstation and CAD but Airtop-W can support up to seven 4K displays, through two HDMI interfaces and five DisplayPort outputs. The screens can be configured as an extended desktop or mirrored, and multi-display 3D acceleration is supported.

Memory and storage capability are key elements for a CAD. The processor need instant access to generous fast memory, to store data as it works – and most of the time large graphics or video files for quick and convenient access.

Airtop-W features a generously expandable memory and storage capability. The two DDR3 SDRAM memory slots can support up to 32GB at 1866Mbps. Airtop-W can have room for six external drives giving supporting up to 10TB of storage.

It can accommodate four 2.5-inch SATA drives. It also includes a mSATA (6Gb/s) SSD slot, and an M.2 2280 SATA slot. Six USB 2.0 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, two GbE ports and WiFi give the machine ample connectivity.
